Beautiful Norway

On Wednesday Charles and I travelled south to the area where he was born. It was a long journey but the scenery was so incredibly beautiful that it did not seem to have taken so long. I have decided not to write much about the journey but want to share some of the photos that I took along the way.

On Thursday, Charles' uncle took us out on his fishing boat to go to Runde Island where there is a colony of cliff breeding birds. These include gannets and, what I was especially keen to see, puffins. We were very lucky with the weather despite it being cold. There was no wind and no rain. Charles had leant me a ski suit and this really helped to keep me warm. My camera, however, seemed to take exception to the cold and worked rather sporadically until eventually it gave up completely. Below are some photos from the morning's outing.

In the afternoon we drove out to Runde Island looking at everything from a different angle. The cutest thing though was all the young lambs in the field.

We got up early on Friday morning and Charles' aunt was so kind to make us a wonderful breakfast before we left. We took a different route home and this time it included catching 3 ferries to cross the fjords and numerous tunnels and bridges. Once again such beautiful landscapes.

We were both happy to get home though and were quite exhausted so an early night was called for. Today is a rest day before heading off to Oslo and the Svalbard tomorrow. Should be a lot of fun and very interesting. It means that the next blog will be on Thursday once we return home.

Take care everyone!
